A political analyst has urged the African National Congress Women’s League ANCWL) to elect a national executive committee which would be brave, bold and decisive in championing women’s rights, the South African Broadcasting Corporation reported on Saturday.
Political analyst Mohau Pheko told SABC news the delegates at the conference in Bloemfontein needed to elect leaders ”without feeling that they have to back so-and-so or they have to move away from certain positions because they will fall out of favour with certain people, whom they view as being in power.
”The previous leadership was rather cowardly and I think what this new leadership needs to come out with is a very brave, very bold and very decisive leadership that really holds up the banner of women’s rights.”
Secretary general Bathabile Dlamini and Gauteng education minister Angie Motshega are candidates for president.
