The trial of Durban businessman Prince Sifiso Zulu has been set down for August, the Durban Magistrate’s Court heard on Friday.
Zulu was meant to appear in court on two charges of culpable homicide on Friday, but was still recovering in hospital after a botched suicide attempt.
He was admitted to hospital earlier this month after he plunged out of his second-floor penthouse window, minutes after stabbing himself.
Police spokesperson Director Phindile Radebe said at the time that police had gone to Zulu’s home to arrest him for defeating the ends of justice.
After his hospitalisation, the charge was ”provisionally withdrawn”.
On March 29, Zulu’s BMW X5 was involved in a hit-and-run accident with a Mitsubishi double-cab. Two members of the Soul’s Harbour Ministries Church were killed and 10 other people were injured.
Zulu was allegedly drunk at the time of the accident and initially denied being the driver of the vehicle.
Zulu was arrested in June, appeared in court and was granted bail of R5 000.
The case was postponed for trial to August 13. — Sapa
