Chiefs’ Obua signs for Hearts

Likeable, ball-weaving Kaizer Chiefs Uganda international David Obua has signed for Scottish Premier League club Hearts after a period with Amakhosi that started with meteoric success and adulation and then slumped into periods of indifference.

The 24 year-old Obua, who has represented Uganda in 22 internationals, first caught the attention of Chiefs with a dazzling performance for his country in a game against Bafana Bafana at FNB Stadium.

And his play generally and penchant for scoring important goals as a left-sided midfielder was instrumental in Chiefs gaining some notable successes following his inspired performances.

Amakhosi’s and Obua’s form, however, tended to slump during the past two seasons and he suffered as a result of continual experimentation regarding his best position.

But with Obua’s ingrained ability and flair, the Ugandan star has the ability to bounce back with a vengeance in Scotland. — Sapa
