Mentally handicapped ‘ordered to have sex’

A KwaZulu-Natal crèche is being investigated amid allegations that the principal ordered two mentally handicapped people to have sex in her office, a department spokesperson said.

KwaZulu-Natal social welfare spokesperson Mandla Ngema confirmed that the department was investigating the alleged incident.

While not all the details are clear, the principal is accused of having called a 38-year-old mentally handicapped woman into her office nearly two weeks ago.

According to the Northern KwaZulu-Natal Courier, the principal closed the door of her office and donned a set of gloves before allegedly fondling the woman’s breasts.

The newspaper reported that the woman then called a mentally handicapped man into her office.

She then locked the door, allegedly undressed the woman and ordered the man to have sex with the woman.

The newspaper reported, ”The two went out sharing the news of their shenanigans with the community.”

Local community members reported the matter to a local chief who is believed to have brought it to the department’s attention.

Ngema said that apart from the principal of the crèche, a teacher was also being investigated.

Ngema said the matter had also been reported to police.

Police spokesperson Superintendent Vincent Mdunge confirmed that a case of ”compelled rape” had been opened, but the case had since been transferred to be investigated by a Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit. – Sapa
