The Roodepark High School pupil who was stabbed in the head has died, police said on Thursday.
Spokesperson Captain Siphiwe Ndlovu said the 16-year-boy, who was stabbed by a classmate on Tuesday, died in the West Rand’s Leratong Hospital on Wednesday night.
”The two started fighting after one mocked the other. They fought in the classroom and took the fight outside after they were stopped by their teacher.”
”It is alleged the suspect stabbed the victim with a pair of scissors in the head,” Ndlovu said.
The boy believed to have attacked him appeared briefly in Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and was released into the custody of his parents. The matter was postponed to August 14.
Ndlovu said he could not yet confirm whether charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, would now be changed to murder.
This follows another incident in KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga, this week, where a 17-year-old grade eight pupil was stabbed to death by another pupil after an argument at a high school.
Police spokesperson Captain Mamsy Cibe said the boy was stabbed by a 18-year-old at Senzangakhona High School in Mandela Village at about 2pm on Monday. – Sapa
