A skeleton was found in Zone 15 in Garankuwa on Sunday, the fourth in the area over the last three months, North West police said on Monday.
Police spokesperson Inspector Matthew Nkoadi said residents had uncovered the skeleton in bushes.
It appeared to belong to a middle-aged man and police suspected it had been there for more than six months. The grass around the skeleton was burnt and no further evidence could be found.
Nkoadi said this was the fourth skeleton that had been found in the area. Last month a man’s skeleton was discovered and in June two more were found.
Police believed the first male skeleton was definitely that of a murder victim as his hands and neck had been tied with rope.
”We are going to conduct more intensive investigations,” said Nkoadi.
He said police had no leads at the moment and were appealing to residents to come forward with information. – Sapa
