Woman’s ordeal doesn’t end at gang rape

A 19-year-old woman was gang-raped by four men and then allegedly raped again by the doctor who examined her, North West police said on Thursday.

Superintendent Kebaaka Metsi said the woman was raped in Madikwe on Wednesday and was taken to the Swartruggens Hospital for examination.

”She was examined by one of the doctors and a nurse. It is then alleged that the doctor took the patient home.

”When the nurse enquired about the whereabouts of the girl, she was told that the girl took a taxi home,” she said.

The matter was reported to the police, who then visited the doctor at his home. Metsi said the girl was found hiding in a room in the doctor’s house.

”She told police that the doctor raped her four times. Several condoms were found at the scene and all have been taken for forensic testing.”

The doctor was charged with rape and is expected to appear in the Swartruggens Magistrate’s Court on Friday. — Sapa
