A 34-year-old man was arrested on Sunday in Dunswart informal settlement for killing his son, Boksburg police said.
Captain Mack Mngomezulu said the five-year-old boy died in hospital hours lafter his father assaulted him and his three-year-old sister on Friday.
”The mother left the two children with the man in his shack and when she came to fetch them the following day she found them injured,” said Mngomezulu.
The boy died at the Johannesburg hospital of injuries to his ribs. The girl, who is in a critical condition, was taken to the OR Tambo Memorial hospital.
The man was charged with murder and attempted murder and is expected to appear before the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. – Sapa
