Sri Lanka A coasted to a 3-1 series win over South Africa A after winning the fourth match of their unofficial one-day series in Bloemfontein on Friday night by 81 runs.
The home side never got into the game after Sri Lanka, winning the toss, posted a total of 301/6 in their 50 overs.
The South Africans made a good start when they reduced Sri Lanka to6 5/3 in 11.2 overs, with Ethy Mbhalati claiming all three wickets.
But then Sri Lankan captain Thilina Kandamby and wicketkeeper Kaushal Silva turned the game on its head with a partnership of 210 in 34 overs. They posted the first 100 of their fourth-wicket stand off 118 balls with nine fours and one six, and the 200 partnership came up off 202 balls with 16 fours and four sixes.
Mbhalati finished with figures of 4/58, which were highly respectable in the circumstances.
The South African reply was a replica of their performance at Buffalo Park on Wednesday, with Gulam Bodi laying the foundation but not having support from his top-order team-mates. The Nashua Titans left-hander made 74 off 94 balls with nine fours and one six but nobody else made much of a contribution and South Africa A succumbed to 220 all out in 44 overs.
Tail-ender Rusty Theron made second top score of 41 off 50 balls (three fours).
The final match takes place at Willowmoore Park, Benoni, on Sunday. — Sapa
