Boats collide on Vaal River

Rescuers were searching on Saturday for a woman’s body after two boats collided in the Vaal River in Vanderbijlpark, emergency services said.

ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said there were two people in each boat when the accident occurred at about 7pm.

”A man was injured and rushed to hospital while his wife is still missing after the boats collided. It is believed that she could be under water and divers are still searching for her.”

A couple in another boat sustained no injuries and were treated for shock.

The cause of the accident was unknown at this stage, said Banks. — Sapa
