Man questioned over fatal boat collision on Vaal River

The pilot of a boat that allegedly killed Kelly Anne Duvenhage in a collision in Vanderbijlpark has been taken in for questioning, Gauteng police said.

Inspector Trudie Wilken said it was alleged that the man knocked Duvenhage and her husband Russell off their rubber duck on the Vaal River on Saturday at about 7pm.

”We are questioning him about the accident because apparently after it happened he drove off.

”We are only questioning him at the moment, we haven’t charged him with anything yet,” said Wilken.

Duvenhage drowned and her body was found late on Sunday. Her husband was taken to the Emfuleni Medi-Clinic and his was treated for a broken jaw.

A case of culpable homicide, and reckless and negligent handling of a vessel, was opened. — Sapa
