Adjudication for the eighth annual National Teachers Awards has just been completed, with the winners due to be announced on October 29.
Candidates underwent a rigorous interviewing session by a panel of judges drawn from the department of education, teachers unions, representatives from the adult literacy sector and school governing body organisations. Now in its eighth year, the awards honour teachers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
A total of 95 nominees competed in the following categories:
- Excellence in Primary School Teaching
- Excellence in Secondary School Teaching
- Excellence in Primary School Leadership
- Excellence in Secondary School Leadership
- Excellence in Early Childhood Development
- Excellence in Inclusive Education and Special Needs Training
- Excellence in Adult Basic Education and Training
- Lifetime Achievement Award
The winners will be announced in a gala dinner at the Union buildings.
