Two killed in N4 accident

Two people were killed and the third seriously injured when their minibus taxi overturned and caught fire on the N4 outside Bronkhorstspruit, Gauteng police said on Saturday.

Spokesperson Johannes Jaftha said the taxi caught fire after colliding with an Opel Kadett on Saturday night.

”A red Kadett drove into the back of a Nissan minibus with three occupants and one of those flew out of the taxi as it overturned. The second man was burnt beyond recognition while the third sustained serious burn wounds,” he said.

Jaftha said the injured man was admitted to the Bronkhorstspruit hospital.

Police where on Saturday still searching for the driver of the Kadett, who is alleged to have fled the scene on foot, leaving his burning car behind.

”According to people who were driving behind the two cars, the driver of the Kadett fled the scene after allegedly causing the accident,” Jaftha said. — AFP
