Hamilton: I don’t need to do anything spectacular

Lewis Hamilton qualified in a disappointing fourth place for Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix, but insisted he felt under no pressure in his bid for the world title.

The 23-year-old British McLaren Mercedes driver, who leads the title race by seven points, said he has a strong strategy for the race. He needs only to finish in the top five to become the youngest and first black champion.

”It’s going to be a tough race for sure, looking after the tyres,” he said.

”But I’m comfortable with the fuel strategy we have. I think obviously the guys in front are probably on a different strategy, it could be good or could be bad for them, but we will have to wait to see.

”We are in a great position to finish where we are and even to make some steps forward.”

He said he did not feel any additional pressure. ”I don’t think so, but obviously it would be nicer to be further up ahead, but with the strategy we have, it is quite good.”

Asked about Massa claiming pole, he said: ”That’s where he needs to be and all the best to him, really. But I’m just focusing on my job and like you said, I don’t need to do anything spectacular, I just need to bring the car home with some good points.” — Sapa-AFP
