Spinner Harris out of Bangladesh Test

South African Test spinner Paul Harris will play no further part in the first Test against Bangladesh.

Harris, who fractured a bone at the base of his left thumb during fielding practice on Wednesday, flew to Cape Town on Friday morning to consult a specialist. Proteas media manager Michael Owen-Smith said Harris was likely to be out of action for three to four weeks.

”He doesn’t need surgery, but he will have to wear a cast. He obviously won’t play in the second Test, and he won’t be able to play for the Titans in the Champions League,” said Owen-Smith.

He said it was unlikely that anyone would be called up to join the squad for the second Test against Bangladesh.

There is speculation that fast bowler Monde Zondeki will replace Harris for the second Test. — Sapa
