School responds to bullying claims

A week after the death of Kefuoe Seakamela Sacred Heart College has moved to dispel notions that bullying could have played a part in the seven-year-old’s death.

Seakamela drowned in the school swimming pool, apparently while under the supervision of a teacher, and there has been claims by her family that she was a victim of bullying.

In a statement issued by the school, director Mark Potterton says the school has an ‘exemplary approach to pastoral care and has led the way in implementing anti-bullying practices in the country’

Potterton also confirmed that the school had cooperated fully into the investigation into the drowning and is awaiting the findings of the inquest.

Kefuoe was the half-sister of Zinzi Mandela’s daughter Zoleka.
