Three arrested after gang rape of Lenasia teenager

Soweto police have arrested three men who allegedly took turns raping a 17-year-old girl after robbing her family in Lenasia on Friday morning, they said on Saturday.

Inspector Kay Makhubela said the three men were arrested on Friday afternoon at the Vlakfontein informal settlement in Lenasia.

Aged 18, 22 and 24, the three men had allegedly broken into the girl’s family home at 2am on Friday.

They then held up the family of five, taking a television set and two cellphones.

”Before the suspects left, they took the girl and took turns raping her in front of her grandmother, mother and two younger siblings,” said Makhubela.

The girl was taken to hospital for trauma counselling and treatment, said Makhubela. – Sapa
