SuperSport crush struggling Bay United

SuperSport United gave notice that they are not giving up their Absa Premiership crown easily after they scored a convincing 3-0 win over struggling Bay United at a rain-soaked Super Stadium on Wednesday night.

On-loan striker Excellent Walaza broke his 11-month goal drought when he opened the scoring in the 10th minute and Mozambique star Elias Pelembe scored the second in the 53rd minute, while substitute Brent Carelse made it 3-0 in the 90th minute.

The defending champions, with 37 points, are now six points ahead of second-placed Ajax Cape Town who have a match in hand. But the pressure is on the Urban Warriors, who play bottom club Bloemfontein Celtic at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium on Sunday.

Walaza, a former Bafana Bafana striker who joined SuperSport on loan from Orlando Pirates last month, showed that he is still a force to be reckoned with and looks set to revive his career under his new coach, Gavin Hunt.

In other Absa Premiership games played on Wednesday, AmaZulu beat Thanda Royal Zulu 3-0, while Mamelodi Sundowns beat Maritzburg United 3-0.
