Advocate Barbie admits to sexual acts

Former advocate Cezanne Visser, or Advocate Barbie, admitted most of the state’s sex claims against her on Monday.

However, she insisted in the Pretoria High Court that she could not be held accountable for her actions.

Visser has denied guilt on 14 charges, ranging from fraud and soliciting minors to commit indecent acts to indecent assault, rape and manufacturing child pornography.

Johan Engelbrecht, SC for Visser, told the court his client’s defence rested on expert evidence that would prove she had been under the control of her former lover Dirk Prinsloo.

This happened to such an extent that she ”had no will of her own” while the alleged crimes were committed.

Prosecutor Andre Fourie handed in a written list of admissions in which Visser admitted the veracity of the evidence of 11 state witnesses who testified in her first trial.

Engelbrecht indicated she did not admit all elements of the evidence by two minors and another witness about charges of indecent assault and rape.

Fourie said two of the witnesses were minors when they testified and neither the state nor the defence wanted to put them through the trauma of having to testify for a second time.

Acting Judge Chris Eksteen said it was a most unusual trial.

He urged the state and the defence to reach an agreement on exactly which elements of the evidence was admitted, as he ”did not want tears” at a later stage.

Admissions by Visser included that she had posed naked for sexually explicit photos with two apparently minor girls and also posed semi-naked with one of the alleged adult victims, alleged to have been sexually molested by her and Prinsloo.

She admitted that dagga and medication, including three so-called date rape drugs and medication for a venereal disease were confiscated during a raid at her and Prinsloo’s home.

Visser also admitted that a doctor friend of Prinsloo’s had prescribed a date rape drug and Viagra to Prinsloo and that police had discovered child pornography in Prinsloo’s study.

She, however, said she was not aware of the material.

Visser admitted that she had fetched children from a children’s home under false pretences.

She also admitted to making a false statement about a woman who was allegedly forced to have oral sex with Prinsloo against her will.

Four years ago Visser and Prinsloo denied guilt to substantially the same charges.

Their trials were separated after Prinsloo disappeared without a trace while on a business trip to Russia in 2006.

Visser’s trial continued in his absence, but had to start afresh when the trial judge died in April 2007.

The state alleges that Visser and Prinsloo had submitted children and women to indecent acts and pornography.

They allegedly exposed themselves to several children, made suggestions of a sexual nature to several victims and had sex in front of one of the minor children.
