The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) will appear before the Complaints and Compliance Committee (CCC) of the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa, the authority said on Tuesday.
Spokesperson Sekgoela Sekgoela said the SABC would appear on Wednesday before the CCC following a complaint by the Freedom of Expression Institute.
”The appearance follows the interlocutory judgement on November 15 2007 which required the Freedom of Expression Institute to provide evidence that the SABC has failed to comply with the code of conduct for broadcasters in its news and in its comment programmes during the period of alleged blacklisting of commentators.
”The Freedom of Expression Institute has complied with the requirements of the interim judgement,” he said.
Sekgoela said the CCC would hear arguments between the national broadcaster and the institute so that it could consider what steps should be taken. — Sapa
