Brigitte Burnett is an executive member of the enterprise governance and compliance cluster at Nedbank Limited. She acquired her knowledge in compliance, governance and sustainability over 15 years in the banking industry.
Burnett commenced her career in the compliance field and acquired her registered persons qualification from the Bond Exchange of South Africa and is also a registered Safex compliance officer. As head of sustainability she assumes responsibility for the coordination of the various sustainability initiatives throughout Nedbank.
Burnett ensures the group’s inclusion in the Dow Jones World Sustainability Index, the JSE Social Responsibility Index and the Carbon Disclosure Project.

Tina Eboka obtained a BSc in industrial engineering with a major in applied mathematics from New York University, a BSc in textiles engineering and an MBA in operations/project management from Philadelphia University and obtained a Senior Executive Program diploma from Harvard Business School.
From 1984 to 1986 she held the positions of mathematics adjunct professor at Philadelphia University. She spent a further six years as chief engineer at After Six Inc in the United States. On her return to South Africa, she joined the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, first as executive director for the textile research division, later as executive vice-president for organisation development, marketing and communications.
Eboka joined Standard Bank in February 2005 and is a member of the executive committee.

As the managing executive of Business Banking at Nedbank, Ingrid Johnson carries responsibility for 2 200 people in 67 offices across South Africa, with R54-billion of advances and R1.369-million in earnings after tax.
Johnson has transformed Business Banking into a decentralised, regionally based business having clear accountabilities, with decision-making taking place within the regions to ensure effective client service. Johnson was previously the managing director of Nedbank Corporate Banking.
A qualified chartered accountant, she has been with Nedbank Group since completing her articles at PricewaterhouseCoopers and has been a member of general management of Nedbank since 1999. Johnson completed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School and is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organisation.
Elizabeth Maepa

The role of Elizbeth Maepa, as CEO of public sector banking at First National Bank, as well as a member of both the FNB and FirstRand executive committees, is to provide strategic business direction and ensure business growth.
Maepa is also chairman of the FNB Fund and serves on the FirstRand Foundation board of trustees. Her involvement in the banking sector spans 29 years. In 2005 she won the ABSIP Corporate Banker of the Year award while she was Nedbank’s head of Corporate Banking in KwaZulu-Natal. She serves on the board of trustees for the KZN Growth Fund which supports employment creation through emerging businesses in the KZN region.
Maepa, regarded as an all-rounder and a deal-maker, holds a BCom degree and has attended various leadership programmes including Women in Business Leadership at Harvard and Strategic Transformation in Europe (involving top business schools in four different countries). She also completed a course in strategic management of a bank (Nedbank with Wits Business School). Maepa was a finalist in the Black Business Quarterly Businesswomen Visionary Award 2008.

Daisy Pillay manages the relationship with all financial institutions that transact with Absa, a portfolio of close to 2 000 global and domestic relationships. At Absa she established the Emerging Markets and Africa desk. She also was responsible for the establishment of an exchange programme between this desk and other African banks.
A former deputy president of the Association of Black Financial Sector Professionals, Pillay played a pivotal role in negotiations for the financial sector charter. She is on the board of the Bankers Associations and Finance and Trade (Baft) and co-chairs Baft’s Africa council. In this industry role she addresses relevant global trade and finance issues and negotiates resolution.
She has also worked as the head of trading for ABN Amro Bank (South Africa) and was a senior trader at the Standard Bank treasury. She has trained at various global banking institutions.

Tabby Tsengiwe joined Nedbank more than a year ago to head the Corporate Communications Division. Before joining Nedbank she was with Microsoft South Africa where she was a public relations and image executive.
She previously worked for other blue-chip corporates such as Medscheme and Bateman as a group executive in communications and has telecommunications and media marketing experience from MTN and MNet respectively.
She holds a BA in journalism from Rhodes University and an MBA from Bond University. Her passion for the people and the business is driving her continuously to seek innovative ways to help ‘Make Things Happen” at Nedbank.
Shirley Zinn

Professor Shirley Zinn, an extraordinary professor at the University of Pretoria’s department of human resources as well as a board member of Monash University, began her career as a secondary school teacher in the Western Cape and went on to lecture in teacher education at the University of the Western Cape (UWC).
She has gained extensive experience in the field of human resource management and has held leading positions such as regional human resources director for Africa and the Middle East at Reckitt Benckiser and general manager for human resources at the South African Revenue Service.
She holds an Hdip (Ed) from UWC, BEd(Hons) from Unisa, an MEd in adult education (UWC), and a master’s degree and a doctorate in education from Harvard. Her passion for learning and development extends to the community and her most recent awards include the 2008 IPM Presidential Award, both the Platinum Visionary Award and the Business Woman Visionary Award of the 2008 Black Business Quarterly, the 2008 Top Women Award: Top Woman of the Year and Top Executive in Corporate South Africa, the 2008 CEO Award for being a Most Influential Woman in Business and Government finalist.
