Aletta Alberts has devoted her career to social and commercial television production and management. She managed SABC2, was a producer for Delapse, head of programming for SABC and executive head of mobile entertainment for Vodacom before moving to MultiChoice. Her career highlights include the successful launch of 16 streaming TV channels on the Vodafone mobile 3G platform as well as five channels on the DStv platform, including Animax and One Gospel. She launched the Disney Channel on the DStv platform, increased the broadcast of local content on DStv bouquets and shuffled the channels on DStv to create space for future growth. After earning a BA from Potchefstroom University, she spent 10 years working on productions including Miss South Africa, Miss World and Miss Universe as well as music specials, sporting events and fashion shows.


Colleen Goodman

Colleen Goodman has more than 13 years’ experience in marketing and sales, the bulk of them in various roles at MultiChoice Africa. After joining Multichoice Africa as sales and marketing secretary, she was promoted to marketing assistant. She enrolled in part-time study through the IMM and earned a graduate diploma in marketing; it led to a promotion to marketing executive and then to DStv brand manager. She moved into the role of creative services manager where she took over the management of all on-air creative promotion and scheduling. Her team won Promax and Loeries awards over the years and have been finalists at Cannes. In her current role she continues managing on-air promotions, the DStv brands and sub-brands in above-the-line advertising and she heads up the publicity team.

Charmaine Smith was educated at Rhodes University, majoring in psychology and industrial sociology. She had held senior positions in business operations, including the formulation and execution of corporate strategy, information technology planning and architecture, subscriber management and credit management. In 1999 she changed focus from operations to business support, initially as head of the national operations support division and shortly thereafter from within the information technology division as head of business architecture and enablement. In 2004, she drove the balanced scorecard methodology throughout the organisation and then spearheaded implementation of the methodology within her own division.
