The Labour Department will embark on a nationwide campaign on Tuesday to encourage employers to submit their employment equity (EE) reports.
Employers, including the government, had to complete EE reports to provide information about their progress in making the workplace free of discrimination.
They had until October 1 to submit their reports manually. Those doing so electronically had from September 2009 to January 2010.
”The campaign is aimed at affording stakeholders an opportunity to interact and assist each other on the correct interpretation of the EE legislation,” the department said in a statement on Monday.
It was hoping the campaign would encourage more employers to submit their reports online, as it said the process was simpler.
A total of 4 000 employers used the online process last year.
The campaign was expected to begin on Tuesday with a workshop in Polokwane. — Sapa
