SA trade surplus at R447m in July

South Africa recorded a third consecutive monthly trade surplus in July, with a R447-million surplus after a R3,22-billion surplus in June, the South African Revenue Service said on Monday.

The trade number is generally volatile and difficult to forecast but economists polled by Reuters forecast a surplus of R500-million rand, very close to the actual July print.

Compared with the previous month, exports rose by 3,31% while imports increased by 10,5%. — Reuters
