Byatt, Coetzee shortlisted for Booker Prize

Previous winners AS Byatt and JM Coetzee are among the finalists for the prestigious Booker Prize for fiction.

Byatt’s The Children’s Book and Coetzee’s Summertime are on a six-book shortlist announced on Tuesday.

The other contenders are Adam Foulds’ The Quickening Maze, Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall, Simon Mawer’s The Glass Room and Sarah Waters’ The Little Stranger.

The winner of the £50,000 prize will be announced on October 6.

The Booker is open to writers from Britain, Ireland or the Commonwealth. — Sapa-AP
