England winger banned for stomping

Bath and England winger Matt Banahan has been suspended for two weeks for stamping, the Rugby Football Union said in a statement on Wednesday.

Banahan was dismissed in the 15-13 defeat to Northampton on December 5 for stamping on Saints flyhalf Stephen Myler and will now be unavailable for Bath’s back-to-back Heineken Cup matches against Edinburgh.

The 22-year-old, who pleaded not guilty to the charge and featured in all three of England’s November internationals, can play again on December 21. — Reuters
