Bousquet Creations began life in 2003 when Tanja and Philippe Bousquet met in the south of France. He is French and she is South African. They combined their artistic backgrounds and, after marrying in 2004, developed their creative business in South Africa. Bousquet Creations specialises in jewellery design, but the couple have extended their range to take on new challenges: lighting, sculpture and objects made from found or waste materials.
Bousquet’s functional pieces are made out of purely recycled materials yet they retain their mystery. Philippe Bousquet’s new collection of lights, under the name After Dark, is created without welding from vintage materials (ok this doesn’t include the bulb and wiring). The first in the series was made in 2008 and was nominated for Design Indaba’s Most Beautiful Object in South Africa. Each piece is a unique sculpture in itself. The new collection includes 15 lights as well as the first items of small furniture created according to the same concept.
