South Africa’s total industry new vehicle sales increased by 20,5% year-on-year to 39 312 units in February, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers (Naamsa) said on Tuesday.
When stripping out sales from Associated Motor Holdings and Amalgamated Automobile Distributors — which report separately — sales rose by 16,2% to 34 314 units compared with February last year, Naamsa said.
February marks the second consecutive month of a year-on-year increase after nearly three years of declining sales, signalling the key employment sector is recovering from its slump, although the recovery comes off a low base. — Reuters
