The power city of Africa, Johannesburg will tantalise your tastebuds with world-class dining.

Assaggi
Assaggi is one of three Johannesburg establishments to appear in the Dine 100 list of Top 10 Restaurants.

Its signature dish, asparagus and brie lasagne, is a home-made using fresh asparagus and brie cheese. Starters range from the mid-R40s to the mid-R50s while the main dishes run from R68 up to R120.

Moyo
Moyo Zoo Lake is a tranquil retreat from the urban hustle and bustle of Jo’burg. By day Moyo offers a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. Sophiatown Bar Lounge
This culturally-themed bar lounge is based around the good old days of Sophiatown and classical jazz. Think Miriam Makeba, Drum Magazine and political revolution. This atmospheric venue bar lounge is set in the heart of Jozi’s cultural precinct: Newtown. Seafood platters and traditional South African dishes like dumpling and samp are served to perfection in enamel plates. If you are lucky there will be live South African jazz bands to keep you entertained as you dine.

The Jolly Roger
This popular venue offers a buzzing pub ambience with a selection of nine draught beers, including imported and local beers. Light meals and snacks, including pizza, pasta, tramezzinis, baked potatoes and salads are sold for an affordable price. Pizzas are half-price from 5pm every Wednesday and Sunday.

Nambitha
Located in South Africa’s most famous township, Nambitha attracts a relatively young crowd but also doubles as a family restaurant. Hamburgers, tramezzinis and toasted sandwiches are offered but so are Sowetan staples like mogodu (tripe) and lamb chops. Prices range from R33 to R65. Kwaito superstar Mandoza has been spotted there several times.
