Mbombela Stadium

Mbombela Stadium
Location: Nelspruit
Capacity: 43 000
Matches scheduled: Four

The Mbombela Stadium — the name means “many people in a small space” — is one of the newly built stadiums for the event. The architect aimed to introduce an African feel to the stadium by using vivid patterning on the seats to resemble zebra skin, while the structural pylons resemble a tower of giraffes. The 18 four-legged pylons, which support the roof, are designed to resemble a ring of abstracted giraffes, and hence the stadium is also dubbed the Giraffe Stadium. The 43 000-seater will host four group matches.

The Mbombela Stadium, also known as the Giraffe stadium, due to its design, is one of the newly built stadiums for the event. This 43 000 seater will host four group matches.
