Peter Mokaba Stadium

The Peter Mokaba Stadium is another newly built venue for the World Cup, replacing the old Peter Mokaba Stadium, situated next to it, after initial upgrade plans were abandoned in favour of a new construction.

Peter Mokaba Stadium
Location: Polokwane
Capacity: 45 000
Matches scheduled: Four

The design of the stadium is based on the Baobab tree, with each corner supported by enormous “trunks”, where the steel structure holding up the roof is anchored. The stadium is designed so that spectators are close to the pitch for all of the four group matches being hosted there.
