SA’s retail sales rose by 3,2% year-on-year in April at constant prices compared with a revised 2,7% increase in March, Statistics South Africa said on Thursday.
The April year-on-year print was the fourth rise in retail sales after Statistics South Africa revised figures back to January 2008.
Retail sales rose by 2,2% in the three months to April, compared with the same period a year ago, also at constant prices.
Economists polled by Reuters forecast a 2,1% year-on-year increase in retail sales for April. — Reuters
