Man in court over Bees Roux’s credit card

A man was set appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning in connection with the theft of Blue Bulls player Bees Roux’s credit card, police said.

“He was arrested at 5.45pm on Friday evening,” said Brigadier Mahlomola Manganye, of the Sunnyside police station in Pretoria, Gauteng.

“It is not in connection with the murder, but in connection with the credit card. He is the one accused of using the credit card,” Manganye told the South African Press Association.

“He is expected to appear in court this morning [Monday].”

Manganye would not give any details on how the man was tracked down, saying: “We followed up some leads … [but] we are still investigating.”

Roux appeared in the Pretoria District Court last Monday and was granted R100 000 bail after he allegedly beat a metro policeman to death on August 27.

Jacobus Stephanus “Bees” Roux spent the weekend in jail following the murder of Tshwane metro police officer Ntshimane Johannes Mogale (38).

During his first court appearance, it emerged that Roux’s credit card was used at a McDonald’s when he was apparently in custody.

Mogale’s body was found in Schoeman Street, Pretoria, with head injuries at 3am on Friday. He had reportedly earlier pulled Roux over for suspected drunk driving. – Sapa
