New mayors for Tshwane and Ekurhuleni metropolitans have been appointed, the South African Broadcasting Corporation reported on Monday.
ANC Tshwane chairperson Kgosientso Ramokgopa was named as the new mayor of the metro while the party’s provincial executive committee member Mondli Gungubele was appointed to head Ekurhuleni.
The appointments were decided by at a special meeting held on Monday, the broadcaster reported.
Ramokgopa replaces his aunt Gwen Ramokgopa, who was appointed the new deputy health minister on Sunday.
Gungubele, a former Gauteng minister for sport, recreation, arts and culture, takes over from Ntombi Mekgwe. – Sapa
