UK, France start talks ahead of landmark defence deal

British Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolas Sarkozy started talks on Tuesday ahead of signing agreements ushering in a new era of military cooperation.

Sarkozy arrived at Lancaster House, a Foreign Office mansion in central London, and was greeted warmly by Cameron, who ushered him inside for talks.

The two countries’ defence, foreign, finance and immigration ministers are also holding talks.

The leaders will then sign two treaties which will seal deals to create shared capacity, including a new combined joint expeditionary force and shared nuclear testing technology. — AFP
