Bail granted for alleged Blue Bulls murder conspirator

The woman accused of conspiring to kill Blue Bulls rugby player Deon Helberg (21) has been granted bail in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Amanda Reyneke (47) was granted R5 000 bail and will be voluntarily taken to a mental institution which she will pay for herself.

Part of her bail conditions included her not contacting Helburg or his family.

Reyneke, who allegedly had an affair with the 21-year-old Helberg, her daughter’s boyfriend, was arrested in an undercover police operation on Thursday.

She was nabbed by the Hawks at a shopping centre in Pretoria after she allegedly handed over money to two Nigerian men, whom she reportedly believed had killed Helberg.

The men showed Reyneke a photograph of Helberg, who appeared lying dead with his T-short stained by fake blood, as proof that she should pay them.

Reyneke was arrested on Thursday at the Atterbury Value Mart in Pretoria shortly after she handed over R10 000 to the hitmen as partial payment.

The case was postponed to January 27. — Sapa
