North West premier Thandi Modise on Thursday appointed six new ministers to her provincial executive committee in a major reshuffle of the province’s leadership.
The six new ministers are: Dr Magome Masike (health), Patrick Chauke (sport, arts and culture), Paul Sebego (local government and traditional affairs), Raymond Elisha (education), Mosetsanagape Mokomela-Mothibi (social development, women, children and people with disabilities) and Tebogo Modise (economic development, environment and tourism).
Four former ministers are no longer part of the revamped executive committee.
They are Mmaphefo Wendy Matsemela (former MEC for economic development and tourism), Rebecca Kasienyana (health), Howard Yawa (safety), Gordon Kegakilwe (local government) and Reverend Johannes Tselapedi (education).
Four more ministers have remained in their provincial cabinet positions, namely Mahlakeng Mahlakeng (public works, roads and transport), Boitumelo Tshwene (agriculture and rural development), Louisa Mabe (finance) and Desbo Mohono (human settlements, safety and liaison).
The new members of the executive committee were immediately sworn into office by the Judge President of the North West High Court Monica Leeuw, on Thursday.
It was also the last sitting of the North West legislature before Christmas recess.
In a statement, Modise said she was confident her new-look team would “hit the ground running” in the province in delivery services to its residents. — Sapa
