Former journalist and 2010 Soccer World Cup spokesperson Rich Mkhondo has been appointed as head of MTN’s corporate affairs division, the company said on Tuesday.
Mkhondo replaces Nozipho January-Bardill, who has left the company.
He will be MTN’s group spokesperson and be responsible for implementing its stakeholder relations strategies in Africa and the Middle East.
The announcement comes a day after MTN named Sifiso Dabengwa as its new CEO to succeed Phuthuma Nhleko, who will become chairperson of the company’s new international unit.
Nhleko wished Mkhondo well in his new post, saying: “MTN is delighted to have a professional of Mkhondo’s calibre on board and is looking forward to tap into the extensive expertise he has acquired over the years.”
