Mandela 'recovering Well'

Former president Nelson Mandela is recovering well from a respiratory infection and is in “good health”, the government said on Thursday.

“Our former state president is recovering well,” Collins Chabane told journalists during a post-Cabinet briefing. “Things are going very well.”

Chabane said Mandela had expertise and doctors around him “all the time”.

The government would continue to give regular updates on Mandela’s health, he said.

“At the moment, the spokesperson for the president will communicate whatever needs to be communicated.”

Mandela (92) was admitted to hospital last Wednesday with a respiratory infection. He was discharged on Friday and moved to his home in Houghton. — Sapa
