Freed murder accused Glenn Agliotti was in court again on Monday, testifying in the Paparas drug trial, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) reported.
Stephen Paparas, his father Dimitri, and Stanley Poonin are on trial for alleged drug dealing related to a multi-million rand consignment linked to convicted drug dealer Glenn Agliotti.
The drug syndicate was bust in 2006.
According to the SABC, Agliotti insisted on Monday that his role was limited to clearing the consignment, hidden inside stoves, through customs and that he was paid R30 000 by Dimitrio Paparas to do it.
But the defence said Agliotti was a far bigger player and that he sold out Paparas to save himself, the SABC reported.
Agliotti entered a plea agreement and was handed a 10-year-suspended sentence in exchange for his testimony against the other three.
The trial was held at the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning and will continue on Tuesday. — Sapa
