Police National Commissioner General Bheki Cele has launched disciplinary action against officers who spent R1,2-million on furnishings for his official residence in Pretoria, the Sunday Times reported.
“The findings of the inquiry by the Public Service Commission are quite clear. General Cele did nothing wrong,” his spokesperson Nonkululeko Mbatha told the newspaper.
The report had recommended action be taken against the officers who did not follow correct procurement procedures.
Police spent R4,2-million buying and furnishing a home for Cele in the upmarket Pretoria suburb of Waterkloof.
The house cost R3-million with transfer costs, and the police spent R1,2-million on luxury furnishings, including a home gym. – Sapa
