INVITATION TO NOMINATE EXPERTS FOR
APPOINTMENT TO THE REMUNERATION
COMMITTEE OF THE GOVERNMENT
EMPLOYEES MEDICAL SCHEME (GEMS)
In terms of Rule 22.3 of the GEMS Rules, the Board of
Trustees of the Government Employees Medical Scheme
(“the Board”) may appoint a Committee consisting of such
Trustees and other experts as it may deem appropriate.
The Board has established a Remuneration Committee
for the Scheme consisting of one Trustee and two
independent members. The Committee’s responsibilities
will include, inter alia, overseeing the maintenance and
administration of the GEMS Remuneration Policy for
employees and reporting against the Policy; overseeing
the maintenance and administration of the GEMS
Performance Management Policy for employees;
overseeing the maintenance and administration of the
GEMS Trustee and Independent Committee Member
Remuneration Policy; and overseeing the annual
employee and trustee salary surveys conducted on behalf
of the Scheme. In addition, the Committee will advise the
Board on:
The annual cost of living adjustments for Scheme
employees;
The criteria to be used in benchmark exercises
pertaining to annual salary surveys;
The remuneration rates applicable to employees,
committee members and trustees;
The implementation of survey results; and
The implementation of performance reward measures
for employees.
Nominations are called for suitable candidates with
remuneration and human resource management
expertise to serve on the Remuneration Committee of the
Government Employees Medical Scheme.
