Nashua Mobile adds Telkom’s 8ta to its services

Nashua Mobile, a wholly owned subsidiary of JSE-listed Reunert Group (RLO), announced on Thursday that it was to offer 8ta’s cellular services and products to its subscriber base countrywide with immediate effect.

8ta, a division of Telkom (TKG), is South Africa’s fourth and newest mobile network operator.

Nashua Mobile said that the full range of post-paid products from 8ta would be available from its national network of dealers and franchised stores, while 8ta’s prepaid products would be available from June 7.

Nashua Mobile customers who opted for 8ta would be able to choose from a flexible set of offerings tailored for a range of budgets, along with an extensive selection of handsets from manufacturers including Samsung, Nokia, BlackBerry, HTC and Motorola.

Nashua Mobile CEO Andy Baker said: “We are delighted to offer our customers even more choice by adding the 8ta products and services to our portfolio. 8ta offers some compelling, competitively priced voice and data products for consumers.

“What’s more, the backing of Telkom means that 8ta is ideally positioned to be a major player in a converging telecommunications landscape. We look forward to seeing what sort of bundles and products the company will be able to offer in the convergence space in the years ahead.”

Stephen Blewett, executive for marketing and sales at 8ta, said that a partnership with Nashua Mobile would enable 8ta to extend its reach into the market by giving it access to the Nashua Mobile customer base and retail infrastructure.

“As one of the largest independent service providers in South Africa, Nashua Mobile is a perfect partner for our business,” he said. “We look forward to working with Nashua Mobile to grow our subscriber base in the years to come.” — I-Net Bridge
