Tshwane Dance Theatre’s new season is titled 15 Mins of Fame and features work by top choreographers Timothy le Roux, Celeste Botha, Mari-Louise Basson and Thabo Rapoo.
The programme takes its cue from Andy Warhol’s old chestnut (apparently uttered in 1979) claiming, ‘in the future everybody will be famous for 15 minutes”. Each work takes 15 minutes. Le Roux’s All the King’s Horses has a colonialist theme, Basson’s Synonyms for Seth deals with the barriers we build in a security obsessed world, Botha’s Here and Now ‘interrogates the defining moments in one’s life” and Rapoo’s Silken Road takes place at the intersection between two worlds. Production and lighting design is by Wilhelm Disbergen and Esther Nasser is the artistic director.
Main Theatre, Market Theatre Complex, Newtown, from May 19 to June 6. Book at Computicket. Tel: 011 832 1641.
