Top South African acts Ringo, Liquideep and Mango Groove combine forces for the 13th Annual African Renaissance Concert, one of the highlights of the cultural calendar which celebrates Africa Day on Wednesday May 25.
Since blazing onto the scene in 1986, hugely popular mbaqanga artist Ringo Madlingozi has an astonishing 10 studio albums under his belt as well as countless SAMA and Kora Awards to his name. The iconic Mango Groove boasts a quixotic career path which has spanned a groundbreaking and turbulent time in South Africa’s history. Since their debut multi-platinum release in 1989, the band has become a household name in South Africa with their unique cross-cultural fusion of kwela, marabi, pop, big band, jazz, swing, jazz and more. Liquideep is a duo made up of singer/songwriter/producer Ziyon and DJ/producer Ryzor, who hooked up in 2007 over a mutual love of hook-laden, melodically rich, deep house music and quickly went on to prove their mettle with their huge breakout international hit single Fairytale.
