Jacques Schindehutte to head up Telkom’s finance

Embattled telecommunications group Telkom said on Wednesday that it had appointed former Absa group financial director Jacques Schindehutte as its new chief financial officer and director with effect from August 1.

Schindehutte was inolved with the Barclays acquisition of Absa and is a chartered accountant, and also holds a BComm (Hons) and higher diploma in taxation. He previously spent approximately 14 years at Transnet.

Schindehutte is currently a non-executive director of the JD Group and Avusa.

“The board of directors of Telkom wishes to express a vote of thanks to Mr Deon Fredericks for his valuable contribution during the acting period,” the group said.

In March, Telkom appointed Nombulelo Moholi as its chief executive officer.

Moholi, an engineer with 23 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry, took over from acting chief executive Jeffrey Hedberg, who took the role in July last year when Reuben September left after his three-year contract ended. — I-Net Bridge
