The ANC’s top brass will meet this week to deal with issues ranging from land reform to the New Growth Path and performance monitoring, the party said on Monday.
The ANC’s national executive committee (NEC) is set to meet in Irene, outside Pretoria, on Thursday, said spokesperson Jackson Mthembu.
The meeting will be followed by an NEC lekgotla on Friday, to which alliance partners will be invited, which is scheduled to conclude on Sunday.
The lekgotla would be addressed by President Jacob Zuma and ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe. Zuma is expected to provide a political report and Mantashe will report on the government’s implementation of ANC policies.
Minister in the Presidency and NEC member Collins Chabane will present a report on monitoring and evaluation of the government on Friday, and Economic Development Minister Ebrahim Patel would report on the progress of the New Growth Path.
Land Reform Minister Gugile Nkwinti is scheduled to make a presentation on Saturday.
Presentations on safety and security, local government, the public sector, education, state-owned enterprises, and health were also expected from various ministers and ANC leaders.
The lekgotla would be attended by Cabinet ministers, senior government officials and leaders of the ANC’s alliance partners — the SA Communist Party, the Congress of SA Trade Unions and the SA National Civics Organisation. — Sapa
