Jo’burg cinemaphile pick: August 26 2011

Pulitzer prize-winning photographer Greg Marinovich makes a rare appearance at the Vega School to talk about his work as a creator of images and words.

After 15 years spent doing conflict, documentary and news photography, Marinovich co-authored The Bang Bang Club: Snapshots from a Hidden War. This non-fiction work dealt with media production during the time of South Africa’s transition to democracy. It has been adapted into a major feature film that is currently on circuit.

Marinovich’s work has appeared in top international publications such as Time, Newsweek, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and the Guardian. He is the current chair of the World Press Master Class nominating committee for Africa.
