The M&G Jo’burg Literary Festival opened on Friday night with an address by Professor Karl Von Holdt.
He spoke on “the Johannesburg moment”, and questioned Jo’burg’s position in history and fiction, and the place it occupies in memory and memoir.
Von Holdt is the director of the Society Work and Development Institute at the University of the Witwatersrand.
