Public Protector Submits Shiceka Report To Zuma

Public Protector Thuli Madonsela has given President Jacob Zuma her provisional findings on Minister Sicelo Shiceka’s alleged breach of the executive code, her office said on Thursday.

The provisional report was submitted on Thursday to Zuma, Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and Shiceka, who is minister of cooperative governance and traditional affairs, said Madonsela’s spokesperson Kgalalelo Masibi.

“The return date on the report is October 3, and the Public Protector plans to release the final report seven days thereafter,” she said in a statement.

“The purpose of releasing a provisional report is to give affected parties an opportunity to respond to provisional findings,” she said.

Shiceka allegedly spent R355 000 to visit a girlfriend in a Swiss jail, R640 000 to stay in a luxury hotel in Cape Town, and more than R160 000 on plane tickets for his family. — Sapa
